How do I get to the Map page?
While all other pages can be enabled or disabled in Page Order , the Map page is always enabled. So, to reach the Map page either press the PAGE button or the QUIT button to scroll through your screens until you get to the Map page.
The MENU Page
Pressing the MENU button from the Map Page displays one of the following screens depending on whether you are in Tracking mode (left) or Navigation mode (middle and right).

Route Options
NOTE: Only available while in Navigation mode
This option has 3 sub-options:
- Stop Navigating - This disables Navigation mode and returns you to Tracking Mode.
- Back on Track - [Add details here]
- Switch to Hiking/Driving - If currently road routing (driving), then this option allows you to switch to Hiking (direct) mode. If currently in Hiking (direct) mode, then this option allows you to switch to Driving (road) mode.
Turn Imagery Off/On
If you have any map packages that contain any Imagery (Hi-Resolution, Color & B&W DOQQ, Image Reg or Custom Rasters) you can simply turn them On/Off by hitting the 'Turn Imagery Off' button.
Map Setup
This option takes you to Data Layering, Data Management, Orientation, Map Style, Hybrid Control, Map Point Management, Scale, POI Details, Waypoint and Geocache control.
Data Layering
This page informs you of what types of maps you currently have on your PN-40 in both internal memory and on the SD card. You can select which maps types are visible (enabled/disabled) and the priority level of each type.
To Change Priority: Use the UP/DOWN rocker pad to highlight a map type, then press the RIGHT rocker pad to highlight the Up or Down Arrow on the right side of the screen. Then simply hit the ENTER button to move the selected map Up/Down the list. When finished, press the LEFT rocker pad to return to the list, or press the QUIT button to return to the Map Setup page.
The map type at the top of the list will have the highest priority (will be displayed "over" maps of lower priority), and the map type at the bottom will have the lowest priorit (will be displayed "under" maps of higher priority).
To Enable/Disable: Use the UP/DOWN rocker pad to highlight a map type, then press the ENTER button to enable (checkmark) or disable (no checkmark) the selected map type. Only maps that are enabled will be displayed on the Map Page.
Note: According to this post, exceeding nine different data layer types will crash the 2.5 firmware.
Data Management
- Hitting the 'Data Management' button will bring up a list of all your 'Map Packages'.
- Any highlighted 'Map Package' will tell you if it is stored on the SD Card or Internal (at the bottom of the screen)
- To enable/disable a 'Map Package', use the UP/DOWN rocker pad to select a package, then press ENTER to enable (checkmark present) or disable (no checkmark) the package. Only map packages that are enabled will be displayed on the Map Page.
- To see more details about a map package, use the UP/DOWN rocker pad to select a package, then press the MENU button. Select 'Data Detail..' and press ENTER button. This will give you details such as the Zoom Level the map was "cut" at, Date is was Saved, location of map, and other information. NOTE: If a map package contains more than 5 maps, the details of only 5 of the maps will be displayed.
- To see a package on the Map Page, use the UP/DOWN rocker pad to select a package, then press the MENU button. Select 'View Map' and press ENTER button. This will return you to the Map Page, with the cursor centered on the selected map. To return to the list, press QUIT button.
- From the Data Management screen, hitting the MENU button will also give you the option to enable all map packages (Select All) or disable all map packages (Deselect All).
Orientation
- North Up - the map will always stay the same with North being the upper part of your screen.
- Heading Up - the screen will rotate so what you see in front of you will be oriented in the same way on the screen.
- Course Up - the screen will rotate so what you see in front of you will be oriented in the same way on the screen while navigating a course.
- North Up above .5 mi scale - Once you zoom above .5 mi the screen will automatically switch to 'North Up'.
Street View
- Street View - displays the map without the green forest color and without the contour lines.
- Topo View - displays the map with the green forest color and with the contour lines.
- Show Hybrid Map - displays streets and contour lines over Image Data only at zoom levels 13 - 17 (-640'-40').
Map Point Management
You can manage all your Map Points here including POI's (Points of Interest), Waypoints and Geocaches.
POI Detail
Hide POI's, Show Major POI's, Show Minor POI's or Show All POI's.
Hide Waypoints Symbols
Choose the scale at which your Waypoints will hidden
Small Waypoint Symbols
Choose the scale at which your Waypoints will be drawn with a small black dot.
Hide Geocache Symbols
Choose the scale at which your Geocaches will hidden
Small Geocache Symbols
Choose the scale at which your Geocaches will be drawn with a small black dot.
Scale
Choose between Bar, Zoom Level or Ratio.

This option allows you to change how and what info fields are being displayed.

Hide/Show Info Fields
This option allows you to either allow the info fields to be displayed on the Map Page or not displayed.
NOTE: The info fields displayed in Tracking Mode can be changed independently of the info fields being displayed while in Navigation Mode.

This option allows you to change how the info fields are arranged on the Map Page, if enabled.
